<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-112
<br />
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE HISTORIC
<br />PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARIS; MAKING
<br />OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
<br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 17th day of June,
<br />2002, in Ordinance No. 2002-033, create a Historic Preservation Commission empowered to
<br />undertake certain actions and exercise certain responsibility related to the preservation of historical
<br />landmarks and structures within the city; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission shall consist of seven (7) members and
<br />two (2) alternate members, all appointed by the City Council, each of whom shall have a
<br />demonstrated outstanding interest in the historic traditions of the city and experience in the
<br />preservation of the historic character of Paris; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council shall endeavor, to the extent reasonably available, to
<br />appoint members from the following categories:
<br />
<br />1. Architect, planner or design professional;
<br />2. Member of the Main Street Board;
<br />3. Owner of or resident or tenant in a landmark property or property
<br />in a historic district;
<br />4. Member of a local Historical Soci.ety;
<br />5. Three members at large; or
<br />6. Other specific background as desired; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to appoint Paul Denney, Arvin Starrett,
<br />Linda Ryan, and Ann Rogers for terms of one (1) year, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending
<br />July 31, 2003, or until their successors are appointed; Claudia Hunt, Jerry Raper, and Sue
<br />Lancaster for terms of two (2) years, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July 31,2004, or until
<br />their successors are appointed; Barbara Wilson as an alternate member for a term of one (1) year,
<br />beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July 31, 2003, or until her successor is appointed; and
<br />Becki Norment as an alternate member for a term of two (2) years, beginning August 1, 2002, and
<br />ending July 31,2004, or until her successor is appointed; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
<br />TEXAS,
<br />
<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
<br />things approved.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That Paul Denney, Arvin Starrett, Linda Ryan, and Ann Rogers be, and they
<br />are hereby, appointed to serve as members of the Historic Preservation Commission of the City
<br />of Paris for terms of one (1) year, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July 31, 2003, or until
<br />their successors are appointed.
<br />
<br />Section 3. That Claudia Hunt, Jerry Raper, and Sue Lancaster be, and they are hereby,
<br />appointed to serve as members of the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Paris for
<br />terms of two (2) years, beginning August 1, 2002, and ending July 31, 2004, or until their
<br />successors are appointed.
