RESOLUTION NO. 2002-078 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, RATIFYING AN APPLICATION FORAN AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority provides funding for automobile theft prevention grants; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant application for the Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1,2002, and ending August 31, 2003, in the amount of $102,826.00, with $29,866.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of cash and $19,700.00 in the form of in-kind services; and, WHEREAS, the deadline for actual filing of the grant application occurred prior to the date of the next regular City Council meeting, and a timely application has been filed, subject to City Council ratification; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Police Chief, and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement said grant (if same is received) without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY ~::;OUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the fmdings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the filing of an application to the Texas Automobile Theft Prevention Authority for an Automobile Theft Prevention Grant entitled "Northeast Texas Automobile Theft Task Force" project beginning September 1, 2002, and ending August 31,2003, in the amount of $102,826.00, being approximately 68% of the estimated cost of the Automobile Theft Prevention Program, with $29,866.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of cash and $19,700.00 in the form of in-kind services, is hereby in all things ratified. Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, appointed as the Authorized Official of said project.
