<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003-134 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR CONSULTING SERVICES <br />WITH PARIS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE <br />PRESENTATION OF THE DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION <br />(D.A.R.E.) PROGRAM FOR ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-EIGHT (178) <br />DAYS THROUGHOUT THE 2003-2004 SCHOOL YEAR FOR STUDENTS <br />IN PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 5 AT THE GIVENS, <br />JUSTISS, AND AIKIN CAMPUSES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of a need for drug resistance <br />training for minors who reside within the corporate limits of the City of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Paris Independent School District has requested a presentation of the <br />Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program for one hundred seventy-eight (178) days <br />throughout the 2003-2004 school year for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5 at the <br />Givens, Justiss, and Aikin campuses, and the City Council is agreeable to providing such service; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the form of the Intergovernmental Agreement for Consulting Services, <br />attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor should be <br />authorized to execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the form of the Intergovernmental Agreement for Consulting Services with <br />the Paris Independent School District, attached hereto as Exhibit A, for a presentation of the Drug <br />Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program for one hundred seventy-eight (178) days <br />throughout the 2003-2004 school year for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5 at the <br />Givens, Justiss, and Aikin campuses, be, and the same is hereby, approved. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on <br />behalf of the City of Paris, the Intergovernmental Agreement for Consulting Services with the <br />Paris Independent School District, under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in <br />Exhibit A, attached hereto. <br />
