-- RESOLUTION NO. 2003-087 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, RATIFYING AN APPLICATION FOR A U.S. FIRE ADMINISTRATION 2003 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) TO PURCHASE FIFTY-FOUR (54) SELF-CONTAINED BREATIDNG APPARATUSES (SCBA) AND SIXTY-FOUR (64) SPARE CYLINDERS; AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT AWARD UPON NOTICE THEREOF; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency provides funding for the U.S. Fire Administration 2003 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant application for the Assistance to Firefighters Program, at a total cost of $271,978.00, with $244,781. 00 to be provided by grant and $27,197.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the form of local matching funds to purchase fifty-four (54) self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA) and sixty-four (64) spare cylinders; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of approving a further condition of said grant, the same being in the form of an in-kind match whereby the City of Paris Fire Department would be required to donate its current fifty (50) self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to the nineteen (19) volunteer fire departments scattered throughout Lamar County; and, WHEREAS, the deadline for actual fIling of the grant application occurred prior to the date of the next regular City Council meeting, and a timely application has been filed, subject to City Council ratification; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Fire Chief, and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement said grant (if same is received) without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved.
