<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-073 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, RATIFYING AN APPLICATION FOR A U.S. FIRE <br />ADMINISTRATION 2004 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT <br />FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) <br />TO PURCHASE EQillPMENT AND SERVICES TO ESTABLISH A <br />WELLNESS AND FITNESS PROGRAM FOR FIREFIGHTERS; <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; ACCEPTING SAID <br />GRANT AWARD UPON NOTICE THEREOF; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR <br />ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON <br />NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency provides funding for the U.S. <br />Fire Administration 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant <br />application for the Assistance to Firefighters Program, at a total cost of $121,897.00, with <br />$109,708.00 to be provided by grant and $12,189.00 to be provided by the City of Paris in the <br />form of local matching funds to purchase equipment and services to establish a wellness and fitness <br />program for firefighters; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the deadline for actual filing of the grant application occurred prior to the <br />date of the next regular City Council meeting, and a timely application has been filed, subject to <br />City Council ratification; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Mayor, City Manager, Director of <br />Community Development, Fire Chief, and other appropriate City staff to accept and implement <br />said grant <if same is received) without further action of City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the filing of an application with the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency for a U.S. Fire Administration 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of <br />$121,897.00, being approximately 90% of the estimated cost of the Assistance to Firefighters <br />Program, with the City of Paris providing $12,189.00 in matching funds, to purchase equipment <br />and services to establish a wellness and fitness program for firefighters, attached here as Exhibit <br />A, is hereby in all things ratified. <br />
