PARIS 1125 Bonham Street
ECONOMIC Paris. Texas 75460
DEVELOPMENT 903.784.2501
CORPORATION Fax: 903.784.2503

2003-2004
PROGRAM OF WORK

Executive Summary

What an exciting time it is to be a part of the Paris Economic
Development Corporation. All indications point to great things ahead
for Paris and Lamar County as we embark on some exciting new
projects that will lead to new primary jobs for the residents of our
community. The past year hàs been a very trying but exciting time. A
weakened national economy has affected us at the local level, but we
are extremely blessed that our local economy has been amazingly
strong through this down business cycle. It appears that the worst is
probably behind us, and with a committed community effort, 2004
should be one of the best years our community has ever experienced.
Work is moving ahead on the Northwest Industrial Park as we
have completed the design phase and are moving into the infrastructure
development stage. Hopefully, by the end of the year, we will see one
of our first tenants moving in. The list of prospective companies that
want to build in the industrial park has grown to five. That response is
greater than anticipated and demands our most diligent effort to
complete this project. When completed, the Northwest Industrial Park
will be one of the finest in Northeast Texas.
One of the most critical issues facing our community is finding
ways to diversify our economy. Our country is moving toward a
service oriented economy and Paris must not be left behind. The C-
Tech Project is a great stride in the right direction that will allow our
workforce to develop new skills. Also, we will be able to tap into a
segment of our workforce that is currently not being utilized.
Despite a record $10 billion budget shortfall, the Texas
legislature made some of the most sweeping and significant changes to
the state's economic development program in over a decade.

www.paristexas.com
