Minutes <br />Trafric Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009, at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. <br />Bee Garmon <br />2. <br />George Kimbrough <br />3. <br />Jon McFadden <br />4. <br />Ray Banks <br />5. <br />Stephen Holmes <br />The city staff was represented by Assistant Chief of Police Bob Hundley. <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:15 by Chairman Kimbrough. A quorum was <br />established by 5 members being present. <br />Mr. Kimbrough asked the commission members to review the submitted minutes <br />of the January 6th, 2009 meeting. Mr. Holmes made a motion to approve the <br />minutes which was seconded by Mr. Banks and passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #3 regarding a information item regarding the <br />resignation of Commission Member Dr. Tom Calabria. Dr. Calabria had <br />submitted a letter of resignation to the City Manager on January 6, 2009. Dr. <br />Calabria's input and presence will be missed. AC Hundley reminded the <br />Commission members of the process for replacement of the opening and <br />volunteer applications were on the city website. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #4 requesting a school 20 MPH zone from the 300 <br />to 400 block of NE 2"d Street. AC Hundley informed the commission that the <br />request was from St. Paul Baptist Church who recently formed the Ralph Rogers <br />School for Excellence at the church. This school will be open to the public and at <br />this time has started a day care and pre-school classes. There was discussion <br />about setting the speed limit for the street at 20 MPH. AC Hundley told the <br />commission that the request was only for the drop off and pick up times of 7:30 <br />AM to 8:30 AM and the drop off times of 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM. Mr. McFadden <br />made a motion to create the school zone speed of 20 MPH during the times <br />requested. Ms. Garmon and Mr. Banks both seconded the motion and the item <br />passed on a 5-0 vote. <br />Item #5 was an information item requested by the commission from the January <br />6t" meeting. Concerns had been raised regarding the turn lanes under the newly <br />constructed overpass at Pine Mill Road and Loop 286. AC Hundley had made <br />contact with the TxDOT Paris Ares engineer, Reza Bazazzadeh regarding the <br />. OUO01~ <br />
