MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2009
12:00 0'CLOCK P.M.
The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett,
Chairman.
A. The following members were present:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Ben Vaughan (arrived late)
Susan Scholz, Secretary
Jerry Raper
Brad Archer
Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman
Matt Coyle
B. The following members were absent:
None
C. Also present was Bethany Golden, Main Street Manger.
2. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate ofAppropriateness:
A. 104 Bonham Street - MetroPCS, by Dave Green - Bill Bowman represented
MetroPCS and stated that they are bringing a new cellular service to Paris now, and other
carriers are already in place on top of the building. Arvin Starrett asked about platform
height. Mr. Bowman stated the platform is 12 inches and the height above the building is
1 to 1'/2 inches. The structure is only 6 feet tall and they are bone white fiberglass in
material and could be painted, if needed. Brad Archer asked if equipment could be
moved back several feet. Bill Bowman stated they placed it where it was structurally
sound and they thought the signal might not be compromised. Arvin Starrett inquired if
the antennas could be attached to the penthouse. Mr. Bowman stated perhaps they could,
there are some already on the penthouse, and his only concern was that MetroPCS may
be interfering with antennas already in place. Paul Denney stated he prefers putting the
antennas on the penthouse. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Brad Archer
to approve the amended COA, mounting the antennas to the penthouse, painting them, to
blend with penthouse wall and they are not to go above the penthouse roof line. Motion
carried unanimously.
B. 824 S. Main Street - LaYry SZagle - Mr. Slagle represented the petitioner, stating
the garage doors will be carriage style. Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by
Susan Scholz to approve the COA. Motion carried unanimously.
