At the hearing, the candemnor, and Ehe landowner if it chooses to attend, presents evidence <br />regarding the amount of compensation due for the property being condemned. The special <br />commissioners then determine the compensation due and fife their award wifh the court. Once <br />the special commissioners fi{e their award, the condemnor may take possession of the <br />condemned proper#y by depositing the amount of the award in#o the registry of the court and <br />executing a bond to secure payment of additional costs. The condemnor and the landowner also <br />have twenty days after the award is filed fo file objections to the award. If objections are filed, the <br />case becomes a judicial proceeding and is tried in the same manner as other civil cases. If no <br />objections are filed, the court has no option but to enter a judgment on the special <br />comrrtissioners' award. <br /> <br />w 000263 <br />
