Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009, at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. <br />Bee Garmon <br />2. <br />George Kimbrough <br />3. <br />Matt Frierson <br />4. <br />Ray Banks <br />5. <br />Stephen Holmes <br />The city staff was represented by Interim Chief of Police Bob Hundley and <br />Interim Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:20 by Chairman Kimbrough. A quorum was <br />established by 5 members being present. <br />Mr. Kimbrough asked the commission members to review the submitted minutes <br />of the February 3rd, 2009 meeting. Mr. Banks made a motion to approve the <br />minutes which was seconded by Ms. Garmon and passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #3 regarding discussion and action requesting a <br />stop sign at 3`d SE & E. Neagle St. Mr. Tuttle informed the commission that a <br />request had been made by a citizen living in the area to place a stop sign at this <br />intersection due to large trucks driving fast through the intersection almost <br />causing accidents. The commission was informed the intersection of 3rd SE & <br />Neagle was an uncontrolled intersection. Mr Holmes made a motion to place a <br />stop sign at the intersection for north and south traffic. The motion was second <br />by Mr. Banks. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #4 regarding discussion and action of installation <br />of turn lanes in front of Thomas Justiss Elementary 400 19th NW, Travis Middle <br />School 3200 Graham, Aiken Elementary 3100 Pine Mill RD, Paris High School <br />2400 Jefferson Rd, Givens Elementary 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and <br />Everett Elementary on Stillhouse Rd. Ms Garmon reported she had spoken with <br />PISD Superintendent Paul Trull regarding the installation of turn lanes at the <br />Paris Schools and the district would cooperate with this project by giving land to <br />widen the streets if necessary. Mr. Hundley informed the commission that plans <br />had been submitted to city staff for the widening and installation of a turn lane on <br />Stillhouse Rd near Everett Elementary. Ms Garmon made a motion to <br />recommend that a feasibility study be done at these locations for the need to <br />install turn lanes at each location.
