RESOLUTION NO. 2009-043
<br />A RESOLUTIOIV OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
<br />AWARDING THE BID AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
<br />CONTRACT FOR ASBESTOS ABATEMENT AT THE BUILDING KNOWN AS
<br />THE ONE OAK PLACE BUILDING; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND
<br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING A1V
<br />EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris advertised for sealed proposals for asbestos removal at
<br />the One Oak Place apartment building located at 655 Graham Street, Paris, Texas (the
<br />"Building") which has been declared as a hazardous structure by the Building Standards
<br />Commission and is scheduled to be demolished, which proposals were received until 2:00
<br />o'clock p.m., Tuesday, the 14th day of April, 2009; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the City retained Brady Environmental Services, Inc. as the City's
<br />environmental consultant to prepare the technical requirements for asbestos abatement at
<br />the Building, to review all proposals submitted and recommend the most qualified asbestos
<br />abatement contractor to the City Council for award of contract; and,
<br />WHEREAS, Brady Environmental Services, Inc., having reviewed all the respective
<br />proposals against the criteria established in the Request for Proposals received by the City,
<br />has determined that Total Abatement Systems Corporation (TASCO) of Royce City, Texas,
<br />had submitted the best qualified proposal providing the best value to the City; and,
<br />WHEREAS, based on the aforesaid recommendation of Brady Environmental
<br />Services, Inc., the City Council finds and determines that the most qualified proposal
<br />received for this project was TASCO of Royce City, Texas, at a bid price of $127,000.00; and,
<br />WHEREAS, based on said finding, the City Council further finds and determines that
<br />TASCO of Royce City, Texas, should be awarded the bid for said abatement project in the
<br />total amount of $127,000.00; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the form of the contract for such asbestos abatement project, attached
<br />hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the City Manager should be
<br />authorized to execute the same.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />PARIS, TEXAS:
<br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
<br />in all things approved.
<br />Section 2. That the proposal of TASCO of Royce City, Texas, for asbestos removal
<br />at the One Oak Place, in the amount of $127,000.00, is the most qualified proposal
<br />providing the best value for the City, and the same is hereby accepted and let conditioned
<br />
