REQUEST FOR PUBLIC FUNDING <br />Non-Profit agencies requesting funding from the City of Paris for projects that benefit the Citizens of Paris must complete <br />the following information to be eligible for consideratioii (you may use additional pages, if necessary). In addition, please <br />submit with this form a copy of your agency's most recent financial statement or audit and a detailed budget for the <br />project. Pleasant, TX 75456-2337 <br />Agency Phone Number• Admin Office 903 572 0973• Paris office 903 785-1313 Agency Fax Number: 903 572 0982 <br />Contact Person: Carol Gresham Contact's Title: Executive Director <br />Contact's e-mail Address: director Asafe-tagencv.com <br />Name of Project: SAFE-T Outreach Office - Paris <br />Location of Project: 1579 Clarksville Street Paris, TX <br />Summary of Project: SAFE 7'provides victim services specifically far domestic violence sexual assault, stalking and <br />dating violence Founded in Titus County in 1995 SAFE-T has been providing limited services in Paris for the past 18 <br />months through funds raised in 'Titus Countv A one room office located in the SAFE-T Thrift Store (1579 Clarksville <br />Street Paris) serves as the Outreach office that provides serves to victims of abuse Counseline crisis intervention, <br />referrais to other agencies transportation to shelter in Titus County, legal advocacv and other services are provided at this <br />location Group counseling is provided at an undisclased location Funding limits our services. A larger office is needed to <br />accommodate the counseling, groups paid advocates and volunteers who provide services. A full_ time advocate is needed <br />to provide communitv education to victims informin_g them of the services available assist with proQrams and maintam <br />client files. Last November SAFE-T opened a Thrift Store in Paris for the.purpose of pavi~n for program costs. So far, <br />with the depressed economy, the store has not made the income that was expected. We are confident that revenue will <br />continue to increase and within a year of two will be able to supUOrt manv programs The Mt. Pleasant Thrtft store <br />produces revenue of $120 OOO/year with expenses of around $60 000 leaving these funds to pav for non grant funded <br />expenses. <br />Last February SAFE T began a Sexual Assault Program under the direction of Nikki Norton the SANE (Sexual Assault <br />Nurse Examiner) This program is manned by volunteers and responds to calls from Paris Regional Hospital. <br />Describe how your project wi11 benefit the City of Paris and its citizens: SAFE-T is the onlY agency currentlv <br />providing domestic violence and sexual assault services in Paris. Bv providing our services to clients the trauma of the <br />crime may be reduced and limit the response of law enforcement aeencies to the same house over and over again. <br />Services and education to clients maY reduce the number of hospital ernergencv admissions for iniuries resulting froni <br />violent acts. Many of the SAFE-T clients are at or below povertv level income and are not able to pav for medical or other <br />ser-vices. All of SAFE-T services are free to clients. <br />List other sources of funding for this project and the amounts: Fund raisers in Titus County - $3,000; United Way of <br />Lamar County $8 000 (we have asked but have not vet received confirnlation) <br />is a detailed project budget, including columns and descriptions for allocations of city funding and the agency's <br />matching funcis attached?
