CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />AND <br />LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT 2009 <br />Amount Requested: $24,140 ($12,070 for the City of Paris and $12,075 for Lamar County) <br />CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET NARRATIVE <br />Amount Requested: The City of Paris, Texas, Police Department is respectfully requesting <br />$24,140.00 of the total funds allocated to the disparate jurisdictions. <br />Budget: <br />Year 1: Replacement of Video Surveillance System <br />TOTAL REQUEST $20,000.00 <br />Less Cash match of $7,930.00 <br />Narrative: The proposed expenditure will allow the City of Paris Police Department to replace <br />the seriously outdated video surveillance system within the police department. This system is <br />used to record officer and suspect interactions during investigative contacts and or witness and <br />suspect statement taking. These recordings are crucial in establishing what suspect, witnesses, <br />and officers say and do during interactions. <br />LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />BUDGET NARRATIVE <br />AmountRequested: The Lamar County, Texas, Sheriffs Office is respectfully requesting <br />$12,070.00 of the total funds allocated to the disparate jurisdictions. <br />Budget: <br />1 Watch Guard 2nd Generation in-car video systems $5,019.00 <br />12 ea Kenwood TK 272-G Portable Radios $5,484.00 <br />l ea Computer Tower and Monitor $1,582.00 <br />TOTAL REQUEST $12,085.00 <br />Less Cash Match of $15.00 <br />Narrative: The duty of the Sheriff s Office is mainly a law enforcement function serving the <br />citizens of Lamar County including but not limited to: patrol duties, investigations, wan•ants, <br />juveniles, transports and maintaining a 196 bed jail facility. The listed equipment is necessary <br />equipment needs for this agency in normal every day law enforcement duties. The video camera <br />requested is in a digital forniat with media that is easily stared and reproduced for case <br />management needs in the Lamar County Attorney's Office. The camera includes a digital <br />enhancement in lieu of the outdated VCR camera that it will be replacing resulting in better <br />visual and audio quality that is imperative in case management as well as Otficer safety <br />issues. The Kenwood portable radios will replace outdated patrol radios to <br />ensure Officer Safety and continue to keep up with the ever-changing radio capabilities needed <br />by the law enforcement officer. The portable radio is the lifeline in a large capacity for the street <br />
