~ g ~ ~ <br />9 Ak ~tjijS~)t <br />~ ~I P PRESS RELEASE <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT KEVIN CARRUTH, CITY MANAGER <br />AUGUST 4, 2009 TELEPHONE: (903) 784-9202 <br />BOB HUNDLEY APPOINTED CI3IEF OF POLICE <br />City Manager Kevin Carruth announced today that Mr. Bob Hundley has been appointed Chief <br />of Police, pending ratification by the Pazis City Council on August 10, 2009. Mr. Hundley has <br />served as Interim Chief of Police since former Police Chief Karl Louis' retirement January 30, <br />2009. <br />The recruitment process included screening the resumes frorn all 34 applicants from around the <br />United States by a Texas Police Chief s Association screening committee comprised of Chiefs <br />from the Northeast Texas region and the responses by applicants to a 22 item questionnaire. The <br />top six candidates were then interviewed by a three-person local interview panel. Following a <br />detailed background investigation, Mr. Hundley and Mr. Ted Gibson were chosen as the two <br />finalists and invited back for a second Interview with the City Manager. City Manager Kevin <br />Catruth said, "Although the final selection was difficult I do not think I could make a bad <br />decision because both finalists were very qualified and can do an outstanding job for the citizens <br />of Paris. Mr. Hundley was picked because of his dedication and almost 34 years of experience <br />with the Department as well as his performance as lnterim Chief." Mr. Hundley said, "I am <br />excited and honored to serve the Paris community as Chief of Police and look forward to the <br />challenges and opportunities ahead." <br />Prior to becoming Interirn Chief, Mr. Hundley served as Assistant Chief of Police since 2004 and <br />Emergency Management Coordinator since 1991. He began his tenure with the City of Paris in <br />June 1975 and has earned an Associates of Arts degree in criminal justice, a master police offcer <br />certification, holds several instructor certifications, and is also an adjunet instructor with the East <br />Texas Police Academy at Kilgore Junior College. <br /> <br />P.O.
