Minutes <br />Traffic Commission <br />City of Paris <br />The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009, at 5:15 P.M. in the <br />Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: <br />1. Ray Banks <br />2. George Kimbrough <br />3. Jon McFadden <br />4. Ken Kohls <br />The city staff was represented by Interim Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. <br />Councilman Joe McCarthy was present as council liaison member. <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:15 by Chairman Kimbrough. A quorum was <br />established by 4 members being present. <br />Mr. Kimbrough asked the commission members to review the submitted minutes <br />of the June 2nd, 2009 meeting. Mr. Banks made a motion to approve the minutes <br />which was seconded by Mr. Kohls and passed 4-0. <br />Mr. Kimbrough moved to item #3 regarding discussion and action requesting a <br />stop sign at 10th NW & W. Cherry and 11th NW & W. Cherry. Mr. Tuttle informed <br />the commission that a request had been made by a citizen to place a stop sign at <br />this intersection due to him almost having an accident while driving through the <br />uncontrolled intersection. Mr Tuttle informed members that there had been no <br />reported accidents at the intersection within the last two years with the last <br />accidents occurring at the intersection in February 2005 and May 2006. Mr <br />Banks made a motion to place a stop sign on 10th NW for southbound traffic and <br />on 11th NW for northbound traffic at its intersection with W. Cherry St. The motion <br />was second by Mr. McFadden. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Mr. Banks requested clarification on the duties of the traffic commission <br />members. Mr. Banks stated there had been several traffic related issues that <br />went straight to the council without review by Traffic Commission. Mr. Banks <br />specifically mentioned a speed limit change on Highway 271 North. Mr Tuttle <br />advised the Commission he would explore this request and report to the <br />Commission next meeting. There were no other request for future agenda items. <br />Mr McFadden moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr Banks at 5:23pm. Motion <br />carried 4-0. <br />Submitted by Interim Asst.
