Director of <br />Council Date: <br />Commission <br />Engineering, Planning & <br />l Sc. <br />8/24/09 <br />Develo ment <br />RECOMIMENDED MOTTON: <br />Conduct a public hearing to provide an opportunity to present comments and written evidence and <br />approve an ordinance amending the Future Land Use Plan Map. <br />PoLicY IsstrE(s): <br />Planning & Zoning <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The current Comprehensive Plan and accompanying Future Land Use Map was adopted on September <br />6, 2001. A revised Map and Legend Explanations were adopted on May 12, 2008. Any zoning changes <br />which do not comply with the recommended uses shown on the Future Land Use Plan Map require a <br />formal amendment to such Map. <br />Mr. Don Walker owns 1.094 acres situated on the west portion of Lot part of 3, City Block 170-A, <br />located at 1920 South Church Street and wishes to change the zoning to Commercial use in order to <br />provide residential facilities for Christians in Action. The Future Land Use Plan Map recommends that <br />this area be zoned for Light Industrial use, which will not allow the proposed project to move forward. <br />On August 3, 2009, the Planning and Zoning Commission recominended that the City Council approve <br />the amendment to the Map that would allow for Gommercial use. <br />Planning & Zoning recommended approval of the amendment to the Future Land Use Plan Map, one <br />person spoke in favor of the petition. One person spoke in opposition.
