ORDINANCE NO <br />2009 -036 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL MAP ADOPTED IN SECTION 31- <br />65(b), OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; <br />ESTABLISHING A STOP SIGN ON 10th STREET NW AT W. CHERRY STREET <br />STOPPING SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC AND ON 11TH STREET NW AT W. <br />CHERRY STREET STOPPING NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A <br />REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE, A <br />PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris Traffic Commission is charged with reviewing and <br />evaluating proposals to add or remove traffic control devices on City streets and roadways <br />throughout the City of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, among those traffic control devices evaluated by the Traffic Commission <br />is the placement of stop signs at various intersections throughout the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission, at its regular meeting of July 7, 2009, <br />considered and evaluated a request for the placement of a stop sign at the intersection of <br />10th Street NW and West Cherry Street, to stop the southbound traffic on 10th Street NW <br />and at the intersection of 11th Street NW and West Cherry Street, to stop the northbound <br />traffic on 11th Street NW and, having done so, found and determined that the placement of <br />stop signs at these locations in the City of Paris is necessary to protect the health and safety <br />and is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in <br />all things approved. <br />Section 2. That the Traffic Control Map of the City of Paris, Texas, as amended, and <br />as adopted in Paragraph (b) of Section 31 -65, Chapter 31, of the Code of Ordinances of the <br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, further amended to include the <br />following stop sign: <br />"Stop Sign - on 10th Street NW at West Cherry Street stopping <br />Southbound traffic." <br />"Stop Sign - on 11th Street NW at West Cherry Street stopping <br />Northbound traffic." <br />Section 3. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict <br />with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the <br />
