DRAFT <br />attorney\resowrk\current\Trail de Paris - Support of Ext E of Reno thru Blossom Res 2009 <br />RESOLUTION N0. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; IN <br />SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION, FOR AN ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM GRANT, BY THE <br />COUNTY OF LAMAR, TEXAS, FOR FUNDS TO EXTEND THE EXISTING <br />TRAIL DE PARIS A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 4.7 MILES FROM THE <br />EAST CITY LIMITS OF RENO THROUGH BLOSSOM TO BOIS D' ARC <br />STREET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris operates and maintains the Trail de Paris, a paved hike <br />& bike trail that goes from 12th Street SE to Old Clarksville Road with extensions planned <br />going west to 8th Street SE and to the east to the city limit line of the City of Paris, Texas; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, Trail de Paris has been a very successful endeavor thanks to the hard <br />work and generous donations from various groups and grant funds made available for this <br />project; and, <br />WHEREAS, funds have been made available for trails projects by the Texas <br />Department of Transportation Enhancement Program, and the City of Paris is very much in <br />support of the County of Lamar applying for such grant funds in order to extend the <br />existing Trail de Paris a distance of approximately 4.7 miles from the east city limits of <br />Reno through Blossom to Bois d'Arc Street. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby <br />in all things approved. <br />Section 2. That we strongly support Lamar County applying for the Texas <br />Department of Transportation Enhancement Program grant funds in order to extend the <br />Trail de Paris an additional approximately 4.7 miles from the east city limits of Reno <br />through Blossom to Bois d'Arc Street. <br />Section 3. That we strongly recommend funding for this project through the <br />Texas Department of Transportation Enhancement Program. <br />Section 5.
