The peristyle is a beautiful and popular backdrop <br />for many community events, including the Paris Municipal Band's summer concert <br />series, weddings, Crepe Myrtle Queen coronation, and movies in the park. <br />Unfortunately, over time the foundation of the structure has shifted, causing the columns <br />and entablature on all three sides to lean at various angles and crack as well as cause <br />the flooring to be very uneven. In January 2004, two of the columns were replaced but <br />the underlying problem with the foundation was not addressed. Two of the columns on <br />the south side had to have bracing placed on them in an effort to stabilize those <br />columns. The structure continues to deteriorate and the safety of the peristyle will <br />become an issue if the foundation is not addressed soon.
