DRAFT <br />attorney\reswork\current\Felony Crimes Unit App Res 2010-11 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, CRIMINAL <br />JUSTICE DIVISION FOR FUNDING FOR THE LAMAR COUNTY FELONY <br />CRIMES UNIT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND <br />EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas finds it in the best interest of the <br />citizens of Paris, Texas and Lamar County to seek funding from the Governor's Office, Criminal <br />Justice Division to continue the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit through Fiscal Year 2010- <br />2011; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris will enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Lamar County <br />to provide for the division and use of said funding; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal <br />Justice Division funds, the City of Paris assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal <br />Justice Division in full; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Texas designates the City Manager as the grantee's <br />authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter <br />or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Paris, Texas approves submission of the <br />grant application for the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit to the Governor's Office, Criminal <br />Justice Division. <br />Section 3. The City Manager of the City of Paris be, and he is hereby designated as <br />the grantee's authorized official and is authorized and directed to negotiate and execute, on <br />behalf of the City of Paris any and all documents necessary to apply for, accept, reject, alter or <br />terminate the grant and to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Lamar County for the <br />division and use of said grant funds. <br />Section 4.
