RESOLUTION N0. 2010-025 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, <br />CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR FUNDING FOR THE LAMAR COUNTY <br />FELONY CRIMES UNIT; AUTHORIZIIVG THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A1VY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMEIVTS; <br />MAKING OTHER FIIVDIIVGS AND PROVISIOIVS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; A1VD DECLARIIVG AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas finds it in the best interest of <br />the citizens of Paris, Texas and Lamar County to seek funding from the Governor's Office, <br />Criminal Justice Division to continue the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit through Fiscal <br />Year 2010-2011; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris will enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Lamar <br />County to provide for the division and use of said funding; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal <br />Justice Division funds, the City of Paris assures that the funds will be returned to the <br />Criminal Justice Division in full; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Texas designates the City Manager as the grantee's <br />authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, <br />alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUIVCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Paris, Texas approves submission of the <br />grant application for the Lamar County Felony Crimes Unit to the Governor's Office, <br />Criminal Justice Division. <br />Section 3. The City Manager of the City of Paris be, and he is hereby designated as <br />the grantee's authorized official and is authorized and directed to negotiate and execute, on <br />behalf of the City of Paris any and all documents necessary to apply for, accept, reject, alter <br />or terminate the grant and to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Lamar County for the <br />division and use of said grant funds. <br />Section 4. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage. <br />
