A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF AN APPLICATION FOR A TEXAS PARKS & WILDLIFE RECREATIONAL TRAILS GRAIVT FOR EXTENDING THE TRAIL DE PARIS FROM 8TH STREET SE ALOIVG THE RAILROAD CORRIDOR WEST TO 1ST STREET SW AND FROM 1ST SW THE ROUTE WILL FOLLOW ALONG THE SOUTHSIDE OF THE HEARNE STREET RIGHT- OF-WAY TO 4TH STREET SW; AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; ACCEPTING SAID GRANT AWARD UPON NOTICE THEREOF; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMEIVTS NECESSARY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARI11iG A1V EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department provides funding for Recreational Trails grants; and, WHEREAS, these grant funds will carry the Trail de Paris from 8th Street SE along the railroad corridor west to 15t Street SW. From 15t Street SW the route will follow along the south side of the Hearne Street right-of-way to SW 4t" Street; and, WHEREAS, this project will be the first Rails with Trails project in Paris and the following have pledged funds for the project: First Federal Community Bank Foundation $25,000; Legacy Foundation $25,000; Lennox Foundation $15,000; Gary Brown $15,000; Liberty National Bank $6,000; Guaranty Bond Bank $5,000; and Lamar National Bank $1,000 totaling $87,000; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Paris to make application to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Recreational Trails Grant in the amount of $200,000 for the extension of the Trails de Paris Project, in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, and the same should be approved. 1VOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the application made to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department for a National Recreational Trails Grant in the amount of $200,000, to extend the Trails de Paris Project from 8th Street SE and the railroad to 4th Street SW and Hearne Street, with the City of Paris being responsible for $60,000 of in kind services in accordance with the 161
