RESOLUTION N0. 2010-056 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />STATING STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE SIGNIFICANT ROLE THAT TURNER <br />INDUSTRIES' PARIS, TEXAS, OPERATIONS PLAY IN THE SOCIAL AND <br />ECONOMIC VITALITY OF THE REGION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries' Paris operation is the largest pipe fabrication facility in <br />the United States; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries has provided a single vendor solution in heavy industrial <br />construction, maintenance, pipe, module and vessel fabrication, equipment, rigging and heavy <br />hauling, and associated specialty services for nearly 50 years; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries is vested in Paris and surrounding communities and has <br />taken an active, participatory role in community events to increase the quality of life as much <br />for people throughout the area as for their own employees; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries has remained committed to Paris and Lamar County <br />during these and other economically and socially challenging times; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries has accepted responsibility in being involved in the Paris <br />community, where its employees live and work; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries has focused on being a good corporate citizen backed by <br />action and financial support; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries has directly and indirectly provided well-paying <br />employment and benefits to many Paris and Lamar County residents, including countless <br />opportunities for individuals possessing criminal histories to start their lives anew with <br />significant jobs; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries delivers one of the highest levels of economic impact in <br />the greater Paris community, serving as a major source of financial support for individuals, <br />businesses, nonprofit and government organizations; and, <br />WHEREAS, Turner Industries serves in an overall anchor position within the <br />community. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris and our community does not tolerate or approve of racism, <br />discrimination or harassment in any form. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />1 <br />
