PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
Minutes
March 17, 2010
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in the Library Director's office at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 17,
2010, with Chairman Bill Kennedy presiding. Other members in attendance were Hilda Mallory, Deborah
Hatley, Linda Vandiver, and Debbie Anderson. Library Director Priscilla McAnally also was present.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved with the corrected spelling of Deborah Hatley's name.
The Board agreed to the library internet policy being amended to allow patrons access to Facebook and other
social networking sites. Online databases have been updated by:
1) Adding "A to Z U.S.A." to the "A to Z Countries" site.
2) Adding "Morningstar Online" which can be accessed from home computers.
Friday, March 19, Cara Sulsar and Leigh Igo will host Wii Game Day at the library for 12- to 17 year-olds. It
will include board and card games and light refreshments.
Scott Signs is working on artwork for the outdoor sign.
The Director is researching vendors for downloadable books. So far, it appears a subscription will be the most
cost-effective and useful route.
The only unusual item in the budget report was overtime. This should have been comp time.
The statistical report did not include the current numbers for library visits. It appears there has been some
malfunction in the gate causing it to overcount. 3M has serviced it.
Cara Sulsar and Courtni McEntyre will attend a workshop in Tyler on how to conduct computer classes. Classes
here will start next month with a limit of 10 students. They will also be conducted in Spanish.
Volunteer week is in April and there will be a volunteer luncheon catered by Hole in the Wall. Cara Sulsar and
the staff will photograph the volunteers as they work, and these photos will be framed and presented to them as
gifts.
There being no further business on the agenda, the chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:10 p.m.
Submitted by,
,N4,i
Debbie Anderson, Secretary
17
