RESOLUTION NO. 2010-068 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE BID AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE SMITH CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT ON CR 32900 TO SPANN CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, LLC, THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, advertise for bids for furnishing plant, labor, materials, and equipment, and for performing all work required for the construction of a single span 60 foot steel I-beam bridge with concrete deck, abutments and wingwalls, including roadway approaches, embankments and associated work which bids were received until 3:00 o'clock p.m., Friday, the 4'h day of June, 2010; and, WHEREAS, the lowest responsible bid for all phases of the Smith Creek Bridge Replacement Project on CR 32900 was made by Spann Concrete Construction, LLC, 1850 Lamar Avenue, Paris, Texas 75460, in the amount of $150,354.71 and the contract should be awarded to Spann Concrete Construction, LLC in accordance with the unit prices bid and the other terms and conditions set out in the bid documents attached hereto as Exhibit A; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the bid of Spann Concrete Construction, LLC, 1850 Lamar Avenue, Paris, Texas for the "Smith Creek Bridge Replacement Project on 32900", in the amount of $150,354.71, is hereby accepted as the lowest responsible bid which provides the best value to the City and the contract for this project is hereby let conditioned upon said contractor's execution of the construction contract, submission of performance and payment bonds, certificates of insurance and upon meeting all other terms and specifications included in the agreement and bid documents attached hereto as Exhibit A. Section 3. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris an Agreement for construction of a single span 60 foot steel I-beam bridge with concrete deck, abutments and wingwalls, including roadway approaches, embankments and associated work with Span Concrete Construction, LLC in the form attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A. Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. PASSED AND APPROVED this 14th day of June, 2010. C Will Biard, Mayor
