DRAFT <br />attorney\reswork\current\ATCOG 2010 <br />RESOLUTION N0. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF <br />THE ARK-TEX COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS AND RECOMMENDING <br />MAYOR FREELEN TO SERVE ON THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF <br />THE ARKTEX COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on September 8, 1969, the City Council of the City of Paris, by <br />Resolution No. 1330, jointed the Ark-Tex Council of Governments; and, <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Bylaws of the Ark-Tex Council of <br />Governments, its Board of Directors shall be composed of inembers elected or appointed by <br />its membership; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Ciry Council is entitled to appoint three of its members to serve <br />on the Board of Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, as provided in said <br />Bylaws; and, <br />WHEREAS, the terms of office of Will Biard and Jesse James Freelen, as members <br />of the Board of Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, expired on May 31, 2009; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, there exists another vacancy in the City's representation on the Board <br />of Directors of the Ark-Tex Council of Governments due to Jesse James Freelen no longer <br />being a member of the City Council, and it is necessary to appoint his successor; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris does hereby recommend the <br />appointment of and the (re)appointment of <br />and for terms of one (1) year, beginning June 1, 2010, and ending <br />May 31, 2011, or for as long as they are members of the City Council, or until their <br />successors are duly appointed; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor does also hereby recommend the appointment of <br />to serve on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the <br />Ark-Tex Council of Governments. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS. <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are <br />hereby in all things approved. <br />199 <br />
