MINUTES OF THE FIRE AND BUILDING CODE REVIEW COMMITTEE <br />CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET, PARIS, TEXAS <br />August 10, 2010 <br />5:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Vice-Chairman Fuston called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. The following <br />members were present: Bryan Hargis, Carolyn Whelchel, Gary Brown, Jerry Haning, <br />Johnny Norris, and Kim Stephens. Council Member Pickle was in attendance. Also, <br />present were city staff Kent McIlyar, Ronnie Grooms, Janice Ellis, Shawn Napier and <br />Dale Mayberry. <br />2. Deliberate and act on the approval of minutes from the meeting on June 15, 2010. <br />It was a consensus of the Committee to approve the minutes as presented. <br />3. Review and possibly act on the draft Ordinance adopting the 2006 International Fire <br />Code and amendments. <br />Subject to two corrections, (page 8, line 7, between the words "is" and "required," <br />the word "to" is to be deleted and on page 18 section 12, the date of the first reading <br />shall read 2010), Carolyn Whelchel made a Motion to approve the Ordinance with <br />amendments and Johnny Norris seconded the Motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />4. Deliberate and possibly make recommendations on the 2006 International Building <br />Code and amendments. <br />It was a consensus of the Committee to consider items 4, 5, and 6 together. Vice- <br />Chairman Fuston said that a motion to bring item 5 from the table was required prior to <br />discussion. Gary Brown made a motion to bring item 5 from the table and Carolyn <br />Whelchel seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Subject to the following changes, (page 2, line 3, between the words "National <br />and Electrical," the word "and" is to be deleted; page 2 Sec. 7-16(a)(2) the word <br />"Protection" shall be inserted between the words "Fire" and "Association"; page 3(e) <br />the second sentence shall read through 214.213; in the third sentence, the word <br />"Residential" shall be deleted and in the fifth sentence the word "residential" shall be <br />deleted), a Motion to approve the Ordinance with amendments was made by Carolyn <br />Whelchel and seconded by Gary Brown. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />
