MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />C1TY OF PAR1S HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2010 <br />12:00 0'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, Chairman at <br />] 2:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Douglas Cox <br />Matt Coyle (Arrived 12:15 pm) <br />Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman <br />Jerry Raper <br />Ben Vaughan <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />None <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff; Cheri Bedford Main Street Coordinator; and <br />Rhonda Rogers, City Council person. <br />2. Considei-ation of'and actioii on tlze follotiving Certificate ofAppropr-iateness: <br />A. 965 IS' Street S. W. - Bail One - Alex Pickering, Scott's Custom Signs presented petition. <br />Ms. Pickering stated owner wants phone number visible to jail across the street. Ms. <br />Pickering requested commissioners approve the petition even if they had to ]ower the square <br />footage. Owner is anxious to get sign up. Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by <br />Susan Scholz to approve the window signage as presented, and approve the attached sign <br />with a reduction in size to 4 X 8. Motion carried 6-0. Ben Vaughan abstained. <br />B. 222 Clai-ksville Str-eet - David Norris, owner of Modern Autobody presented petition. Mr. <br />Norris stated the size of the building supports the size of the sign. The letters are individual <br />letters that will attach directly to the existing faqade of the building. The sign will not be <br />framed out. The proposed sign for the side of the building is for the traffic on Clarksville <br />and the top drawing on the application is the preferred choice. The total square foot of the <br />side painted sign is 24 square feet on a 216 foot faqade. The commissioners requested Mr. <br />Norris come back with a different arrangement to come in under the allowable signage for <br />the west side sign. <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Paul Denney to approve the attached sign <br />on the north side fagade only.
