International Fire Code 3rd Printing, April 2007 as amended with local amendments as set <br />out below; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Fire Department has not had an active Fire Reserve Unit in the <br />City of Paris for many years and the Fire Chief desires to repeal that Article III from Chapter <br />12 of the City of Paris Code of Ordinances to eliminate any confusion among the citizens <br />about the existence of a Fire Reserve Unit in the City of Paris, Texas. <br />1VOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. Article I, In General, of Chapter 12 of the City of Paris Code of <br />Ordinances be, and is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: <br />"ARTICLE I. IN GEIVERAL <br />Sec.12-1. Composition of department. <br />The fire department of the City shall be composed of the fire chief, fire <br />marshal/assistant fire chief and forty-nine (49) members classified as follows: <br />(1) One (1) fire training officer. <br />(2) Three (3) deputy fire chiefs. <br />(3) Twelve (12) fire engineers. <br />(4) Six (6) firefighter drivers. <br />(5) Twenty-seven (27) firefighters. <br />Sec. 12-2. Designation of the assistant fire chief. <br />The chief of the fire department shall designate an officer of the fire <br />department to serve, at the pleasure of the fire chief, as the assistant fire chief. An <br />official assistant to the fire chief (where otherwise separate from the fire marshal) <br />or an assistant(s) to the fire marshal may be authorized by the city council. <br />Sec. 12-3. Fire marshal to serve as assistant fire chief. <br />The fire marshal, in addition to other duties, shall serve as the assistant chief <br />of the fire department. The Fire Chief may also designate such number of <br />assistant fire marshals as authorized by the City Council. <br />Sec. 12-4. Delegation of fire chief s powers and duties to the fire marshal. <br />The chief of the fire department may delegate any of his powers and duties <br />under this article to the assistant fire chief. <br />2 <br />79 <br />
