Director <br />Workforce Solutions NE Texas <br />City Council <br />Liaison(s): Edwin Pickle <br />John Wright <br />Pike Burkhart, called the meeting to order at 4:04 p.m. Pike welcomed those present. <br />Minutes from the September 14, 2010 were approved, as submitted, by a motion from Chad <br />Brown; seconded by Doug Wehrman. Motion carried. <br />Financial reports for September, 2010 were approved, as submitted, by a motion from Dan Smith; <br />seconded by Chad Brown. Motion carried. <br />Steve Gilbert presented the Director's Report: <br />• Incubator - Business plan and facility plans are works in progress. EDA, USDA and <br />Meadows Foundation grants in progress. <br />• Youniz Professionals Initiative - Website launched (www.parisvp.com). Volunteer <br />committees in place and YP Paris moving forward! Paris YP is a social and networking group <br />dedicated to providing a fun and interactive environment for the Paris area young professionals to <br />develop professionally and build a better community. <br />• RFP for Review of City of Paris "Development Services" - Will be issued in October and <br />reported on at November meeting. <br />• October 18-22 Industry Appreciation Week - PEDC will provide breakfast each morning <br />to The Paris News, Silgan Can, Harrison, Walker and Harper, NextEra Energy, ending with an <br />event on October 22 at the Wildcat Creek Quail Resort. <br />• Fit 4 Life Initiative - Sponsored by the Lamar County Coalition of Education, Business <br />and Industry. PEDC will have a team participating in the 12 week weight loss challenge beginning <br />November l, 2010 and going through January 28, 2011. <br />• Received Updated Sovbean Extrusion Feasibility Study - Reviewing to finalize and <br />determine next steps. <br />1s <br />
