RESOLUTION N0. 2011-057 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS APPOINTING MATT FRIERSON AS A MEMBER OF THE VISITORS AND COIVVENTION COUNCIL OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF LAMAR COUNTY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on November 8, 2010 the City Council of the City of Paris by Resolution No. 2010-112, authorized the execution of a contract with the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County, Inc. providing for the use of hotel occupancy tax funds to promote and advertise the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce created the Visitors and Convention Council to carry out its contractual obligations to administer the use of said hotel occupancy tax funds; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor, the City Manager and one other City Council Member serve as full voting members of the Visitors and Convention Council; and, WHEREAS, the term of office of Council Member Rhonda Rogers, as a member of the Visitors and Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County, expired on May 31, 2011; and, WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris hereby recommends MATT FRIERSON to serve on the Visitors and Convention Council for a one-year term beginning June 1, 2011, and ending May 31, 2012, and has submitted the name of such person to the City Council for confirmation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUIVCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the appointment of MATT FRIERSON, as a member of the Visitors and Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County, for a term of (1) year, beginning June 1, 2011, and ending May 31, 2012, be and is hereby, confirmed. Section 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.
