Background <br />The Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) is a participating member of a National <br />Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) manufacturing outreach program "Manufacturing <br />Extension Partnership (MEP)". Founded in 1995, TMAC serves as the MEP for Texas tasked <br />with helping Texas companies stay in business by improving their ability to compete in the <br />global marketplace through improvements in efficiency and productivity. <br />TMAC consists of a consortium of technical experts from many different disciplines provided by <br />the TMAC partners: Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), University of Texas at <br />Arlington, University of Texas Pan American, University of Texas at EI Paso, Texas Tech <br />University, University of Houston and Southwest Research Institute. <br />As a partner in TMAC, TEEX is a not-for-profit State agency and a member of The Texas A&M <br />University System. TEEX has been providing assistance for public and private institutions since <br />its conception in 1919 and as a State agency under the Texas Education Code since 1948. <br />TEEX is wetl known for its technical training and technical assistance in many disciplines and <br />internationally known by the Fire Service through its Bratton Fire Training Institute in College <br />Station, leadership in Texas Taskforce 1, and its role in the National Emergency Response and <br />Rescue Training Center. <br />44 <br /> <br />
