ORDINANCE NO. <br />2011-025 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />AMENDING SECTION 2-303 "STANDARDS OF CONDUCT" OF ARTICLE IV <br />CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT OF CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION OF <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS; MAKING OTHER <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A <br />REPEALER CLAUSE, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on May 10, 2010, by ordinance No. 2010-018, the City Council of the <br />City of Paris adopted a Code of Ethics and Conduct for City Council members, Board and <br />Commission and Committee members and City employees. <br />WHEREAS, after working with the Code of Ethics for over twelve months, the City <br />Council has determined that too many qualified citizens desiring to serve on City Boards, <br />Commissions and Committees have been ruled ineligible because of their business <br />dealings with the City of Paris; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. Section 2-303 Standards of Conduct, of Article IX, of Chapter 2, <br />Administration, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, be, and the same is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Whereas, the City Council does not wish to exclude citizens of Paris from serving on <br />a City Board, Commission or Committee because of an unrelated contract or business <br />affiliation they have with the City of Paris that has no connection to the Board, <br />Commission or Committee on which they wish to serve and creates no conflict of interest <br />for the citizen to serve on the board or commission; and <br />"ARTICLE IX. CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT FOR CITY COUNCIL, EMPLOYEES, <br />BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES." <br />Sec.2-300. Definitions. <br />For the purposes of this code of ethics and conduct the following words <br />and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed to them by this section: <br />Advisory board shall mean a board, commission or committee of the city that <br />functions only in an advisory or study capacity. <br />1 <br />
