Bri.ng sustainability into the industrial mainstream by creating and providing resources to help <br />industry convert the waste and by-prodnets of manufacturing into energy and new useful <br />products, including renewable energy resources. <br />2. Develop national manufacturing sector Innovation Roadmaps that chart courses to achieve energy <br />and other sustainability goals. . <br />3. Mobilize industry trade associatians to promote and help establish a volantary national <br />manufacturing i.ndustry goal to reduce energy intensity (BTU's per pound) by 50% in 20 years <br />through innovation and technology. <br />4. Focus on industrial innovation designed to create jobs by ciramatically accelerating emerging and <br />new efficient technologies to commercialization and implementation. <br />5. Incent non-profit industry development organizations to form alliances and partnerships to reduce <br />sector energy use, redace greenhouse gas emission levels, and rednce dependeuce on foreign <br />oil and dampen the effects of rising energy prices on manufacturers. <br />6. Establish multipie pzivate-pnblic Industrial Innovation Knowledge Hubs and fund coordinated <br />researc6 and development, validation, and dissemination of innovative efficiency <br />technologies and praetices, to help companies overcome bamiers to energy and sustainability <br />innovation iznplementation. <br />7. Create regional cluster networks of champions to help drive iwnovaNon in U.S. manufacturing for <br />all industries and their vendors and svppliers through private-public collaboration with research <br />and education institvtians. <br />8.
