Paris Economic Development Corporation <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 14,2011 <br />Board Members <br />Present; Pike Burkhart, Sr. <br />Doug Wehrman <br />Dan Smith <br />Rick Poston <br />Chad Brown <br />Staff Steve Gilbert, PEDC <br />Yresent: Shannon Barrentine, PEDC <br />Shawn Napier, City Engineer <br />Ex-officio Members Guest(s) <br />Present: Pam Anglin, PJC President Present: <br />Mindy Moree, Chamber President <br />Legal <br />Counsel: None <br />City Council <br />Liaison: Edwin Pickle <br />Connie Beard, The Paris News <br />Fred C'rreen, R3bi Incubator Director <br />Britin Bostick, Paris Main Street Brd. <br />Pike Burkhart, called the meeting ta order at 3:00 p.m. Pike welcomed thase present. <br />Minutes from May 10, 2011, Special Called meeting and Regular Board meeting were reviewed. <br />The Minutes were approved, as submitted, by a motion from Chad Brown; seconded by Doug Wehrman. <br />Motion Carried 5-0. <br />Financial reports for May, 2011 were approved, as submitted, by a motion from Doug Wehnman; <br />seconded by Dan Smith. Motion Carried 5-0. <br />Steve Gilbert reported attending the Faris City Council meeting that was held on Monday, June 13, <br />2011 along with Pike Burkhart and Doug Wehrman. He had included the Diversity Task Force statement <br />read by Mary Clark in the PEDC meeting packet (attached). The City Council approved the $7,500 to go <br />towards the Diversity Tnitiative and instructed Gene Anderson ta fmd the funding. Gene Anderson <br />reported that he is working on transferring the funds. Steve added that he would get with Judge Superviile <br />regarding Lamar County's support of the Diversity Initiative. Paris had two site visits in the week prior #o <br />the Board rneeting as a direct result of the KeCon Conference that vvas held in Las Vegas, Nevada in May. <br />The Red River Region Business Incubator's Grand Opening was a huge success. A meeting was held with <br />Pam Anglin and Iohn Spradling from Paris Junior College; Fred Green, Incubatoz Director; Steve Gilbert, <br />PEDC Executive Director and Shannon Barrentine, PEDC Staff to discuss the draft of a Memorandum of <br />Understanding {MOU} proposing how PJC can support the R3bi in the ugeorning Fiscal Year. Kick aff <br />meeting for the Paris Regional Manufacturing Initiative will be June 22" from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.nn. in <br />the Community Room at the Depot. Richard Seline, Initiative Consultant, will be assigning tasks (goals) <br />to the Project Committee (attached). Steve also referenced a press release from the Obama administration <br />on "White House Rural Gouncil to Strengthen Rural Communities" (attached). See attached for a more <br />detailed report from the Executive Director for June 2011. <br />44 <br />
