Paris Economic Development Corporation Meeting Minutes June 14,2011 Board Members Present; Pike Burkhart, Sr. Doug Wehrman Dan Smith Rick Poston Chad Brown Staff Steve Gilbert, PEDC Yresent: Shannon Barrentine, PEDC Shawn Napier, City Engineer Ex-officio Members Guest(s) Present: Pam Anglin, PJC President Present: Mindy Moree, Chamber President Legal Counsel: None City Council Liaison: Edwin Pickle Connie Beard, The Paris News Fred C'rreen, R3bi Incubator Director Britin Bostick, Paris Main Street Brd. Pike Burkhart, called the meeting ta order at 3:00 p.m. Pike welcomed thase present. Minutes from May 10, 2011, Special Called meeting and Regular Board meeting were reviewed. The Minutes were approved, as submitted, by a motion from Chad Brown; seconded by Doug Wehrman. Motion Carried 5-0. Financial reports for May, 2011 were approved, as submitted, by a motion from Doug Wehnman; seconded by Dan Smith. Motion Carried 5-0. Steve Gilbert reported attending the Faris City Council meeting that was held on Monday, June 13, 2011 along with Pike Burkhart and Doug Wehrman. He had included the Diversity Task Force statement read by Mary Clark in the PEDC meeting packet (attached). The City Council approved the $7,500 to go towards the Diversity Tnitiative and instructed Gene Anderson ta fmd the funding. Gene Anderson reported that he is working on transferring the funds. Steve added that he would get with Judge Superviile regarding Lamar County's support of the Diversity Initiative. Paris had two site visits in the week prior #o the Board rneeting as a direct result of the KeCon Conference that vvas held in Las Vegas, Nevada in May. The Red River Region Business Incubator's Grand Opening was a huge success. A meeting was held with Pam Anglin and Iohn Spradling from Paris Junior College; Fred Green, Incubatoz Director; Steve Gilbert, PEDC Executive Director and Shannon Barrentine, PEDC Staff to discuss the draft of a Memorandum of Understanding {MOU} proposing how PJC can support the R3bi in the ugeorning Fiscal Year. Kick aff meeting for the Paris Regional Manufacturing Initiative will be June 22" from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.nn. in the Community Room at the Depot. Richard Seline, Initiative Consultant, will be assigning tasks (goals) to the Project Committee (attached). Steve also referenced a press release from the Obama administration on "White House Rural Gouncil to Strengthen Rural Communities" (attached).
