It cannot <br />resolve every challenge nor problem fac:ing the region, but we will loak to apply the <br />elements of previous wozk by PEDC and the community to ensure that we are linking and <br />leveraging concerns and harriers. Simply, through a Manufacturing Initiative, we CAN <br />address workforce and skills, infrastrueture, community outreach and inelusion, <br />entrepreneurial and new business development, and similar issues that have been <br />discussed over the years. However, we must be highly targeted and focused with your <br />tirne and energies - and therefore we will have to make tough choices about how we <br />allocate those energies and therefoxe existing and future resourees to achieve success. <br />The most important challenge for the Advisory Cammittee and subsequent work is a key <br />phrase: "No champion, no initiative; no leader, no result... " <br />The Project Advisory Committee - and the IargQr community that will eventually became <br />part of the strategic im.plennentation - must look to themselves as both champians and <br />leaders to ensure that the initiative and results are the best selected for vur region and our <br />long-term agenda. The consultant, the PEAC staff, and even elected officials are not the <br />sole source of ehampions and leaders - this must be a civic-driven, private sectar focused <br />plan and implementa,`tion. <br />14 <br />c w <br />
