RECOMMENDED MOTION: Approve as presented. POLICY ISSUE(S): School Zone - 2200 S. Collegiate Drive BACKGROUND: Recommendation was made to Traffic Commission to place a school zone to regulate speed on S. Collegiate, west of new Paris High School, prior to the start of school and after school is dismissed when S. Collegiate construction is finished. TXDOT has installed a school zone on Jefferson Road (FM 1507) north of new Paris High School. TXDOT has also installed a school zone on SE Loop south of new Paris High School. On 03-02-2010 the Traffic Commission considered the request for placing a school zone to regulate speed on S. Collegiate Drive west of the new Paris High School. The Traffic Commission recommended a school zone to regulate speed, prior to the start of school and after school is dismissed, be placed on S. Collegiate Drive west of the new Paris High School. Note: The minutes in which this action was approved also contained a recommendation for a signal light at 33`d & Lamar Avenue along with a recommendation for a No Parking Zone in front of Christians in Action.
