WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in
<br />a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Paris,
<br />Texas, and in the above described territory, on the 2nd day
<br />of October, 1983, which date is not more than twenty (20)
<br />nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public
<br />hearings; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Paris,
<br />Paris, Texas, on the first day of January, 1983, was
<br />14,122.64 acres; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the population of the City of Paris, Paris,
<br />Texas, is in excess of 25,000 and less than 50,000 inhabi-
<br />tants; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the
<br />extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Paris, Paris,
<br />Texas; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to'
<br />and adjoins the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 19:607
<br />acres, more or less, which when added to other property
<br />annexed in the year 1983 is less than ten per cent (10"/,) of
<br />the present acreage contained in the corporate limits of the
<br />City of Paris, Texas; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the above described property'should be pro-
<br />perly zoned as of the date of annexation; NOW THEREFORE,
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />PARIS:
<br />Section 1. The following described land and terri-
<br />tory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Paris,
<br />Paris, Texas is hereby added and annexed to the City of
<br />Paris, Paris, Texas, and said territory hereinaâ–ºfter
<br />described shall hereafter be included within the boundary
<br />limits of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and the present
<br />boundary limits of said City, at the various points
<br />contiguous to the area hereinafter described are altered and
<br />amended so as to include said area within the corporate
<br />limits of the City of Paris, Texas, to-wit:
<br />Situated about 3 miles East from the City of
<br />Paris, County of Lamar and State of Texas, a part
<br />of the Joseph Leach Survey, Abstract No. 524, and
<br />being part of a 34.34 acre tract of land described
<br />as Third tract in Deed of Trust Records in Volume
<br />108, Page 165 of the Deed of Trust Records of said
<br />County and State, which is a part of the same land
<br />described in a Deed from Charles Manton et ux to
<br />S. E. Smith on January 1, 1902, of record in
<br />Volume 102, Page 464, and the land conveyed S. E.
<br />Smith by J. G. Marshall, January 18, 1902, of
<br />record in Volume 103, Page'6, of said Deed Records
<br />of said County and Statq, and being further
<br />described as follows:
<br />BEGINNING at an iron pin for corner in the
<br />East Boundary line of said Leach Survey, situated
<br />South 0° 30' 30" West with the East Boundary Line
<br />of said Leach Survey a distance of 611.1 feet from
<br />the Northeast corner of said 34.34 acre. tract,
<br />same being in the South Boundary Line of U. S.
<br />Highway 82;
<br />THENCE South 0° 31' 30" West, with the East
<br />Boundary Line of said Leach Survey, a distance of
<br />619.5 feet, a fence post for corner;
