Sullivan, P.E, Public
City Council Works Director g
KECOMMENDED MOTION:
Not an action item.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Drainage
BACKGROUND:
Attached is a copy of the Public Works Department's Drainage Report. As anticipated the work levels
are back up from August.
Ongoing/Reoccurring Problems:
Some of these issues will require actual design and construction to resolve. We are continuing to review
some additional issues with Engineering and as these are properly identified they may be included on
future reports. Engineering and Public Works have met with our consultant who developed the Master
Drainage Plan prepared in the 90's and discussed updating the Master Drainage Plan and developing a
program to address the ongoing and reoccurring issues that require additional analysis. This will be
addressed further at a later date.
One additional item has been added to this list. Water stands at the crossing of Smith Creek at 10" NW
south of Center Street. The creek bottom has eroded both up and downstream of the culvert and the
channel never went dry until this summer's drought. We have identified an abandoned sewer line which
seems to be feeding water to this spot. We are going to cap this line and see what affect it has on the
standing water. It should be noted that the drainage area for this creek is fairly large and that water
standing in the bottom of this channel should be a frequent occurrence.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
EXHIBITS:
Ditch Maintenance Report
ACTION:
❑ Financial Report
Minute Order
BUDGET INFO:
❑ Department Report
❑ Resolution
Expense $
❑ Presentation
❑ Ordinance
Budgeted Amt. $
'
❑ Public Hearing
~ Other
y
rD Actual
$
Acct.
