Regular City Council Meetrng <br />August 9, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />PROVIDING FOR THE TERMINATION OF SUCH GRANT UPON <br />SPECIFIED CONDITIONS; PROVIDING FOR TAXICAB STANDS FOR <br />USE OF SAID GRANTEE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC LIABILITY <br />INSURANCE ON THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT OF SAID <br />GRANTEE; PROVIDING FOR THE SUPERVISION OF SAID BUSINESS <br />AND INSPECTION OF ITS VEHICULAR EQUIPMENT BY THE <br />OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, WAS PRESENTED. <br />Councilman Bell made a motion to approve the ordinance as read. The motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Wilson and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2004-135, acknowledging formal receipt of the 2004-2005 <br />Certified Appraisal Roll for Tax Appraisal purposes, was presented. Finance <br />Director Anderson explained the handout along with that resolution. He said <br />the City is having to pay back to Campbell Soup a total of $500,000 because <br />of a lawsuit. He did say this tax roll had a net of $37, 619.00 less revenue. <br />Councilman Bell made a motion to receive the tax roll, which was seconded by <br />Councilwoman Fisher. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2004-136, approving the assignment of a taxicab franchise from <br />Dennis Nelms, dba City Cab Company to Robert Edwards and Boyd <br />Harmening dba Paris Transport, LLC, was presented. Councilman Guest made <br />a motion to approve the resolution which was seconded by Councilman Poston. <br />Councilman Bell asked if they had met all the requirements. City Attorney <br />Schenk said they accept the responsibilities and requirements of the franchise. <br />The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2004-137, approving and authorizing an Intergovernmental <br />Agreement for Consulting Services with Paris Independent School District for <br />the presentation of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program <br />for the 2004-2005 school year, was presented. Councilman Bell made a motion <br />for approval which was seconded by Councilwoman Fisher. The motion carried <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
