<br /> DRAFT <br /> H:Appointments\2004\V&CC <br />RESOLUTION NO. _______________ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING KAREN WILKERSON AS A MEMBER OF <br />THE VISITORS AND CONVENTION COUNCIL OF THE CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE OF LAMAR COUNTY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, in Resolution No. 90- <br />026, on the 12th day of March, 1990, authorize the execution of a contract with the Chamber of <br />Commerce of Lamar County, Inc. providing for the use of hotel occupancy tax funds to promote <br />and advertise the City of Paris; and, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the Chamber of Commerce created the Visitors and Convention Council <br />to carry out its contractual obligations to administer the use of said hotel occupancy tax funds; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the Mayor, the one Council Member herein appointed, and the City <br />Manager are full, voting members of the Visitors and Convention Council; and, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the term of office of Council Member Richard R. Manning, as a member <br />of the Visitors and Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County, will <br />expire on December 31, 2004; and, <br />WHEREAS <br />, the Mayor of the City of Paris does hereby recommend the appointment of <br />Karen Wilkerson for a term of two (2) years, beginning January 1, 2005, and ending December <br />31, 2006, and has submitted the name of such person to the City Council for confirmation; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. <br />That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br />Section 2. <br /> That the appointment of Karen Wilkerson, as a member of the Visitors and <br />Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County, for a term of two (2) years, <br />beginning January 1, 2005, and ending December 31, 2006, be, and the same is hereby, <br />confirmed. <br />Section 3. <br /> That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED <br /> this 13th day of December, 2004. <br />__________________________________ <br />Curtis Fendley, Mayor <br /> <br />
