City Council Meeting <br /> September 13, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br />Resolution No. 2004-159 - A resolution approving a Professional Services <br />Contract for hydraulic design, bridge design and related services for <br />replacement of the collapsed Smith Creek Bridge located on County Road <br />32900, being the secondary entrance into the City of Paris Water Treatment <br />Plant, was presented. <br /> <br />On a question from Councilman Bell, City Engineer Shawn Napier said the <br />design would cost $15,000.00 and the work on the bridge would be $60,000.00 <br />to $70,000.00. He said there was only one engineer that did this kind of work <br />in the County and they would use part of the design for another bridge. He said <br />City crews would do part of the work. A motion was made by Councilman Bell <br />for approval, which was seconded by Councilman Wilson. The motion carried <br />5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2004-160 - A resolution approving and authorizing an Inter- <br />governmental Agreement with North Lamar Independent School District for <br />provision of School Resource Officer services to the NLISD campuses during <br />the 2004-2005 school year, was presented. A motion to approve the resolution <br />was made by Councilman Bell and seconded by Councilwoman Fisher. On a <br />question from Councilman Wilson, Police Chief Louis explained that North <br />Lamar pays for one-half of three officers and the City pays for one-half of three <br />officers. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2004-161 - A resolution approving and authorizing a new grade <br />and step pay plan for all new employees and employee promotions to higher <br />grade, other than certified non-director employees of the Police, Fire and <br />Emergency Medical Services departments, was presented. <br />City Attorney Schenk said this could be made effective today. On a question <br />from Councilman Bell, Finance Director Anderson explained that if a person <br />who is currently employed with the city gets a promotion, they will not have to <br />take a pay cut if they make the same as one of the steps on the new promotion. <br />He went on to say that anyone currently employed with the City stays at their <br />current job, they will stay on the original pay plan.
