June 28, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />Pike Burkhart, Sr. spoke in favor of the designation. <br />Bill Hindman spoke in opposition of the designation, stating it was selective <br />discrimination. <br />Chairman Starrett reported to the Commission that he had letters from Judy <br />Gibbons and Linda Su Suarez in favor of the designation. <br />Chairman Starrett declared the public hearing closed. <br />7. <br />Discussion of and possible action on the Church Street Historic District and <br />recommending such designation to the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Motion to designate the Church Street Historic District and forward the <br />recommendation to the Planning and Zoning Commission was made by <br />Barbara Wilson, seconded by Sue Lancaster. Motion carried 8-0. <br />8. <br />Discussion of and possible action on declaring the following properties as <br />a historic landmarks and setting a public hearing on same: <br />A. <br />625 W. Washington Street (Old County Hospital and adjacent <br /> - Motion to designate the property as a <br />buildings/Agape House) <br />landmark and set a public hearing on the same was made by Becki <br />Norment, seconded by Sue Lancaster. Motion carried 8-0. <br />B. <br />Part of 1033 Bonham Street (Old Sanitarium Children's Wing located on <br /> - Motion to designate the <br />the Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. property) <br />property as a landmark and set a public hearing on the same was made <br />by Becki Norment, seconded by Claudia Hunt. Motion carried 8-0. <br />9. The HPO reported <br />Receipt of report from the Historic Preservation Officer. <br />that she was researching abatement policies and would present something <br />to the Commission for review at a future meeting. <br />10. The Commission requested <br />Request items from Board for future agendas. <br />that they review demolition by neglect one more time and that they discuss <br />salvaging architectural elements from dilapidated structures. <br />11.The meeting adjourned at 5:13 p.m. <br />APPROVED this 22nd day of November, 2004. <br /> <br />
