<br />MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br />CITY HALL WEST ANNEX <br />CONFERENCE ROOM <br />150 1ST STREET S.E. <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2004 <br />3:00 0'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Main Street Advisory Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman <br />Zach Saffle at 3:05 P.M. <br />A.The following members were present: <br />Suzy Harper <br />David House <br />Jennifer Long <br />Bill Kirby <br />Barbara Wilson <br />Alternates:Pike Burkhart <br />Dienna Roberts <br />B.The following members were absent: <br />Linda Su Suarez <br />Alternates:Renee Harvey <br />Bailey Gant <br />C.Also present was Lisa Wright, Director of Community Development. <br />2. <br />Discussion of and possible action on recommendations to the Director of <br />Community Development regarding the job description for the Main Street <br />Lisa Wright advised the Board that she wanted to seek their input <br />Manager. <br />on the new job description for the Main Street Manager since that individual <br />would be working on the goals set by the Board. She presented a sample job <br />description from the Main Street handbook for their review and asked if the <br />Board felt this description would be adequate. Mr. Burkhart stated that he felt <br />networking within the community might be the best source for a candidate. <br />Mrs. Wilson stated that the most successful Main Street communities in Texas <br />have the best trained people. She stated that state tourism people and <br />mystery shoppers would be good sources. Mr. Kirby asked if the state Main <br />Street office would have a list of candidates, and Ms. Wright advised that the <br />position would be advertised on the TML website, which is statewide, and <br />possibly in trade publications.
