Rd The Archers for Christ organization has had a lease in the past but rene\val of that lease has been placed in limbo pending completion and action by the city on this study, The Archers for Christ actually occupy small target ranges on both sides of Caviness Road and frequently utilize other, non-leased land for hunting and special competitions or '.shoots" during the year. 2.1.5 Hunting and Fishing. Hunting is allo\\'ed on certain areas of city O\\l1ed Lake Crook property by ordinances passed in the 1970's and subsequently an1ended. Duck and goose hunting \vith shot guns (and not rifles) is pennitted on the open waters of the lake. Only bow hunting is allowed on the north shore and on the upper \vest shore \vest of Caviness Road and above the Archers for Christ lease. Shot gun hunting is allowed in the large flood plain area south of the lake down to F.~1. 79 and up along the south shore to \vhere the park road is closed. Hunting is not permitted in the public park on the south shore nor around the water treatment plant and below the dan1. Fishing is allowed on the lake in accordance \vith state fishing laws. There are currently no restrictions on boat size or horsepower on Lake Crook 2.1.6 Other Users. The lake has been used in the past for water skiing and ski jumping training or competitions. In 1975, the ski jump ramp \vas removed with the concurrence of the Paris Water Skiing Club. The lake has also been host to Touchstone Energy Longhorn National Drag Boat Racing competition, the most recent being in July, 2000. There are no publicized plans for additional racing on the lake at the present time, Page 17 of 45
