Employees with <br />more than ten (10) years of service will be paid for any unused vacation up to a maximum <br />of thirty (30) days. <br /> <br />SECTION 14.04 Attendance Holida s <br /> <br />Interruption of work programs caused by employee absence is costly. In order to encourage work <br />attendance, certain employees will earn one (1) attendance holiday after the completion of each <br />quarter of the City's fiscal year subject to the following policies: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />All qualified employees who have not taken sick leave, military leave, funeral leave, leave <br />without pay, injury leave or vacation pay in lieu of sick leave during the work quarter will <br />receive an Attendance holiday. <br /> <br />Attendance holidays will be taken after prior approval has been received from the supervisor. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />Only full time employees are eligible for Attendance holidays. <br /> <br />SECTION 14.05 - Sick Leave <br /> <br />Regular employees are eligible for sick leave with pay after their first full month of service if illness <br />occurs. Part-time employees receive pro-rated benefits. Temporary employees do not receive sick <br />leave benefits. <br /> <br />Sick leave is accrued at the rate of one and one-quarter (1 Y4) working days for each full month of <br />employment. A maximum amount of one hundred and thirty-five (135) days of sick leave may be <br />accumu1ated against future illness. Sick leave will be allowed in accordance with the following <br />policies: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Sick leave will be granted only for absence from duty because of personal illness or when <br />needed for illness in the immediate family. Immediate family includes an employee's <br />spouse, child, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law or any relative living in the employee's <br />home. Sick leave for an immediate family member of the employee is limited to five (5) <br />working days per year for a serious illness. Although an employee can only take five days <br />of sick leave for an immediate family member they are still eligible for up to 12 weeks of <br />family medical leave for a family member who has a serious health condition in a rolling 12 <br />month period. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Notification of illness and request for sick leave must be made to the supervisor, or as <br />otherwise provided by department policy, prior to the beginning of the scheduled workday; <br />or as soon thereafter as possible. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />The City may request an employee to provide verification of the circumstances surrounding <br />any use of sick leave.
