<br />Libræy Advisory Board <br />April 26, 2005 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LmRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />April 20, 2005 <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session <br />Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman <br />Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present: <br />Sarah Gambill, Deborah Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Carl Lucas, Nancee <br />Salzman, Jake Street and Walter Williams. Also attending were Priscilla <br />McAnally, Library Director, Amanda Green, Friends of the Library <br />President, and Gene Anderson, Finance Director for the City of Paris. <br />Absent were Jackie Alsobrook and Anna Davis. <br /> <br />The minutes from the March meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Gene Anderson reported on information related to available Library <br />Trusts Funds. A spreadsheet handout summarizing maturity dates of <br />Certificates of Deposit and available interest rates, etc. was distributed. <br />Based on information related to current rates on CD's, Mr. Anderson <br />recommended looking into long-term investments with monies remaining <br />after the purchase of the new integrated library system. <br /> <br />Ms. McAnally gave on update on the two integrated library systems, GIS <br />Information Systems and The Library Corporation, in relation to price <br />quotes. A recommendation was made to purchase the GIS Polaris system, <br />which is an upgrade from the current Galaxy system that the library uses. <br />Approximate cost the system will not exceed 575,000. Cost will include on- <br />site consultation prior to installation and training after the installation. <br />Purchase of the system will be made with monies from the Library Trusts <br />funds. Ms. McAnally expressed thanks to the board for the purchase of the <br />new system. <br /> <br />The budget report was favorable. <br /> <br />March circulation statistics were down 31 % from the same month in 2004. <br />A total of 378 new items were added to the collection in March. <br />
