Planning and Zoning Minutes
April 4, 2005
Page 5

Laurie Woodard, Rt. 9, Paris, spoke in favor of the petition.

Carl Lucas stated that the Commission had made an appropriate
recommendation at its last meeting when it approved General Retail
zoning for this property because the Comprehensive Plan for Future
Land Use recommends that this area be zoned Light Industrial. He
asked if Council referred this back to P&Z because of opposition at
the meeting, and Mrs. Woodard stated that no opposition was present
at the meeting. He stated that there was a tractor business next door,
a trailer business around the corner, and a strip club on the highway.

Reeves Hayter stated that he agreed but that he understood the
Council's thinking since there was a residence across the street.

Mr. Lucas stated that he still thought General Retail was appropriate,
but that he did not want to keep the Woodards bouncing back and
forth. Mrs. Woodard stated she did not care what the zoning was as
long as she could build her beauty shop.

There was no opposition, the public hearing was declared closed.

8.

Consideration of and action on the petition of Cody Woodard for a
change in zoning from an Agricultural District (A) to aN eighborhood
Service District (NS) on a one (1) acre tract of land which is a part of
the John Skidmore Survey, being located on FM 1508.

Motion was made to approve by Bobby Myers, seconded by Reeves
Hayter.
