<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF MAIN STREET ADVISORY <br />BOARD <br /> <br />Wednesday, April 20, 2005 <br />Aiken Building –Downtown Paris <br />23 East Plaza <br /> <br />3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Wed., April 20, 2005 at 3 <br />p.m., at the Aiken Building. Zach Saffle, Chairman, presided. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> Barbara Wilson, Zach Saffle, Jennifer Long, Suzy Harper, Pike Burkhart (Alt.), David <br />House, Linda Su Suarez <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> Bill Kirby, Bailey Gant (Alt.), Renee Harvey (Alt.), Deanna Roberts (Alt.) <br /> <br /> <br />Also present were: <br /> Bethany Golden MS Coordinator, Lisa Wright Community Development & Tony <br />Williams City Manager (City of Paris). <br /> <br />Zach Saffle called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />March 16, 2005 minutes were reviewed by board members and unanimously approved as submitted on a <br />motion by S. Harper, seconded by B. Wilson. <br /> <br />Subcommittee Report – Market Square (Report given by B. Golden) <br />Bill Kirby and Jennifer Long investigated possibilities of groups coming to the Marker Square to sell their <br />plants or vegetables. The area high schools were not interested due to the timing – they stated they didn’t <br />have crops during summer and no students. Adult probationers were not interested. The extension <br />service was not much help, suggested getting in contact w/truck farmers but provided no assistance. <br />Master gardeners need to be contacted. The committee agreed a press release in the Paris News would be <br />a good idea. Tony Williams suggested contacting Lufkin because they have a nice Market and may be of <br />help. He stated they had different kinds of events there. <br /> <br />Subcommittee Report – Financial Incentives Package for Potential Investors (Report given <br />by B. Golden) <br />Bill Kirby volunteered to head the subcommittee to investigate incentives packaging. Bill stated he saw <br />no reason to prepare printed applications for potential investors. The group agreed that a package stating <br />all the incentives as well as the bank contact information would be sufficient. Contact has been made <br />w/First Federal Community Bank concerning a possible loan pool and reduced interest rate. <br /> <br />Subcommittee Report – Downtown Light Pole Banners (Report given by S. Harper and B. <br />Golden) <br /> <br />Light pole banners have been ordered w/design approved by members of the main street board. 24 <br />banners were ordered for the 20 poles, extras were ordered due to the price being less. We will have extra <br />in case of weather damage or vandalism. Suzy suggested ordering additional banners that hang below the <br />others for extra appeal. The board agreed and B. Golden will initiate the additional order. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion of Board Training/Board Structure (Presented by B. Golden) <br />Training will be offered in Winnsboro on June 23 @ 4:00p.m. Details will follow in the coming weeks. <br />B. Golden stated that THC prefers the Main Street Board have 4 separate committees for design, <br />promotion, organization and economic development. Board members asked that I incorporate our <br />identified goals and objectives for 2004/2005 with the committees. Will coordinate and present at next <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
