Minutes
Traffic Commission
City of Paris
June 7, 2005

The Traffic Commission met in a called session, Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at 5:15
P.M. in the municipal court room with the following members present:

1. Ed Ellis 2. Mary Lane 3. Jon McFadden
4. Ed Seidle 5. George Kimbrough 6. Matt Frierson
7. George Fisher 8. Rickey Mackey.

The city staff was represented by Assistant Chief of Police Bob Hundley.

The meeting was called to order at 5:18 by Chairman Ed Ellis.

Minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.

The Commission then moved to item 2 as there were persons in attendance that
wanted to speak about the item. Lisa Wright informed the commission about the
request to establish local truck routes within the city limits. These routes would
be used by individuals making a delivery inside the city in a truck of over 1 ½
tons capacity. She informed the commission that there have been complaints
about truck traffic on the downtown plaza being dangerous to pedestrians,
hauling hazardous cargo, and being noisy. By establishing the local truck routes,
deliveries would still be made inside the city, but the truckers would have to
follow certain routes to the point that is closest to the delivery location.

After discussion regarding signage to inform drivers of the local routes,
discussion of enforcement, Mr. Frierson made a motion to adopt the local truck
routes as presented. Ms. Lane seconded and the vote was 8-0. The local truck
routes are attached to the minutes as exhibit “A” and “B”.

Mr. Ellis then moved to item 1 regarding the request for a 4-way stop at the
intersection of Clark Lane and Johnson Woods Drive. This intersection is
presently controlled by stop signs for northbound and southbound traffic on
Johnson Woods Drive. After discussion, the Commission requested a traffic
count and accident study for further consideration. Mr. Mackey made a motion to
table the item. Mr. Kimbrough seconded and the vote was 8-0.

Mr. Ellis made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Seidle and the vote was 8-
0.

Bob Hundley
Assistant Chief of Police
